Championing North Dakota’s Economic Future

The Economic Development Association of North Dakota (EDND) is set to host its 2024 Fall Conference in Bismarck, continuing its mission to champion the growth and diversification of North Dakota’s economy through professional development, networking, and advocacy. A Platform for Professional Development

EDND offers its members many professional development opportunities, including biannual conferences and basic economic development training for new developers through pre-conference sessions. These classes, programs, and training opportunities are provided in collaboration with national certification organizations and the North Dakota Department of Commerce. The Fall Conference is a critical platform for learning, sharing best practices, and networking with fellow economic development professionals.

Honoring Excellence in Economic Development

One of the conference's highlights is the Economic Development Awards, which recognize individuals, organizations, and projects that have significantly impacted their communities. The prestigious EDND Economic Developer of the Year award celebrates individuals who have made substantial contributions to the economic health of their community or region, enhancing the quality of life for residents. Recent winners include Jim Murphy (2023) and Brad Barth (2022) of Devil's Lake Economic Development, who have left indelible marks on their communities.

Reflecting on the success of the Spring Conference

The EDND Spring Conference 2024 in Grand Forks emphasized the importance of collaboration in economic development, particularly in rural areas. Panels like “Reviving Main Street-Small City, Big Ideas,” moderated by Dawn Mandt, executive director of the Red River Regional Council, brought together local leaders and community developers to discuss innovative strategies for community growth. This collaboration and shared learning spirit is expected to continue and expand at the Fall Conference.

Looking Ahead: The 2024 Fall Conference Agenda

The Fall Conference will feature a robust agenda designed to equip attendees with the knowledge and tools to navigate and influence economic policies effectively. Attendees can look forward to engaging in sessions on economic diversification, rural development, and the role of legislative advocacy in economic growth. With a lineup of distinguished speakers and experts, the conference promises to deliver valuable insights and foster meaningful discussions.

Building Vibrant Communities Together

EDND’s vision of a North Dakota filled with vibrant communities and economic opportunities for all is at the heart of the Fall Conference. The conference aims to create a collaborative environment where innovative ideas can flourish by bringing together economic development professionals, business leaders, and policymakers. The networking opportunities will enable attendees to forge new partnerships and strengthen existing ones, driving collective efforts toward a prosperous future for North Dakota.

As the date approaches, anticipation builds for the EDND Fall Conference 2024. It is an unparalleled opportunity for economic development professionals to come together, learn from each other, and contribute to North Dakota's economy's ongoing growth and diversification.
